Longevity is one of the main challenges and opportunities for the cities of the future. Increased life expectancy generates new needs, while also promoting new economic activities, products and services directed at improving the quality of life of older people and their carers.
We work with businesses, research centres, institutions and the elderly population to promote an innovative ecosystem that favours active, healthy and inclusive ageing.
In 2023, we began to design and implement the Bilbao Silver Lab project, with the aim of making Bilbao into an environment where businesses and entrepreneurs can test their products or services intended for older people and their carers. To do so, in 2024 we launched a challenge with the goal of finding solutions for longevity and age-related needs in our city. Bilbao Ekintza currently offers a pilot service for receiving test requests continuously.
